-1 101 Z Mohenjo Daro, like other cities of the Indus civilization, was divided into two: a lower town containing houses and workshops, and a citadel mound on which were built a number of public buildings. Mohenjo Daro may have been the principal city. Here workshops were found producing the full range of Indus craft objects: not only widely made objects such as beads, shell bangles, stone and copper objects, seals, pottery and ceramic figurines, but also more unusual things such as inscribed copper tablets and stoneware bangles.

3 102 C The lower town was laid out to a plan, with main streets orientated north-south and east-west and less regimented side streets. The houses opened off the side streets: their windowless walls on the main street prevented dust raised by traffic blowing into the houses.
